Automatic Transmission For The New Age Xuv500

India's leading SUV manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., recently announced the introduction of Automatic Transmission (AT) in the W6 FWD variant of the new XUV500. The AT option will now be available across 4 variants of XUV500 - W6 FWD, W8 FWD, W10 FWD and AWD.

The new age Mahindra XUV500 W6 AT is priced at Rs. 14.29 lacs and will be available across all Mahindra showrooms throughout the country with immediate effects. Speaking on the addition of a feature such as Automatic Transmission, Mr. Vivek Nayer, Chief Marketing Officer, Automotive Division, M&M ltd. said,

"The Automatic Transmission of the New Age XUV500 has resonated very well with our customers since we launched it in November 2015. I am sure that the availability of the Automatic Transmission across variants and a range of price points will now render this technology more accessible to a larger base of customers and make the XUV500 a more attractive proposition amongst a wide spectrum of buyers.”

Along with the Automatic Transmission the new W6 variant will have some more new features;

• Fully automatic gearbox: The XUV500 Automatic features a new 2nd generation transmission with a torque converter and a planetary gear train for smooth and precise gear shifts. The intuitive gear changes combines the responsiveness of a manual transmission and the hassle-free of an automatic.
• Optimized gear ratios (with 2 overdrive gears): The new age XUV500 has 6 gear ratios as opposed to a conventional 5 gear ratio used in most cars. These provide the car with better fuel efficiency.
• Automatic Transmission with AWD : The All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) is a feature specially added for adventure seekers and is available with the W10 variant. This feature ensures that the torque is suitably distributed between the wheels for best traction on slippery roads and rough terrains.
• Intelligent Adaptation to terrains and altitudes: The intelligent transmission is capable of handling high and mid-altitude to ensure best drivability. The car has two uphill climbing modes for ferociously though uphills and ghat sections.
• Easy cruising in the city : The automatic gearbox will also be helpful in the stop-and-go traffic of the city. It provides a brisk acceleration and a smooth delivery across all the 6 gear ratios.

The XUV500 is already a big hit on the streets and with the addition of new features such as AT, the fan-following of XUV500 is set to increase much more.
